Allow the mix to dry completely, then soak and drain. Its rhizomes store moisture; watering is much less frequent in dim winter conditions.
Free-draining potting mix with added perlite or pumice; never use a sealed pot.
Use a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer once or twice during active spring/summer growth, following the product label rate. Skip feeding during winter rest.
Aim for 18–26°C indoors; protect from sudden temperature changes and cold drafts.
Ordinary room humidity is usually sufficient; do not mist to compensate for wet roots.
During darker Metro Vancouver autumn and winter days, check moisture before watering and lengthen the interval as growth slows. Reassess daylight in spring and repot only if roots crowd the container.
Harmful if chewed or ingested; aroid tissues contain irritating calcium oxalate crystals. Keep away from children and pets and avoid sap contact.
