Understand the cause

A place to start.

A pink shirt can start a conversation. The work continues in how we listen, include others and respond when someone is being hurt.

The purpose of Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day takes place on the last Wednesday of February. CKNW Kids’ Fund’s campaign raises awareness of bullying and supports programs that encourage children’s self-esteem, empathy and kindness.

The campaign grew from students supporting a peer who had been bullied for wearing pink. Visit the organizer’s page for its story and current campaign information.

Recognize bullying and find help

The Public Health Agency of Canada provides resources about recognizing bullying, supporting children and teenagers, and prevention programs.

Parents, caregivers and young people can choose age-appropriate guidance together. A trusted adult or the people responsible for a school or activity can help respond.

Support kindness online

Cyberbullying can happen through connected devices and online platforms. Public Safety Canada offers guidance for young people, parents and educators about prevention and getting help.

Use those resources to talk about online behaviour, how to report concerns, and where a young person can find support.
