Understand the cause

A place to start.

Food support belongs in everyday community life. Whether you are looking for help or are able to offer it, start with trusted information and the organizations working in our region.

Understand food insecurity

Health Canada measures household food insecurity through experiences linked to not having enough money for food. These can include worrying about running out, having fewer food choices, or reducing meals.

People’s circumstances differ. Learning about the issue helps us respond with respect and avoid assumptions about the people seeking support.

Help in a way that is useful

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank offers direct giving and virtual food drives. Its website explains the available options so you can choose how to contribute.

You can also share the support link with someone who may need it. Ask an organization what it needs before arranging a collection or delivering items.
