Understand the cause

A place to start.

Access begins with listening. People have different needs, and clear information makes it easier to plan a visit, use a website or ask for assistance.

What National AccessAbility Week recognizes

National AccessAbility Week begins on the last Sunday in May each year. It celebrates the contributions and leadership of persons with disabilities, alongside work to remove barriers and build inclusion.

The government’s campaign page has current resources and information about participating.

Understand barriers

Accessibility includes the spaces people enter, the information they receive and the ways services are delivered. The Government of Canada’s accessibility resources explain work toward greater participation for people with disabilities.

As a community, we can ask what helps, listen to the answer and avoid assuming everyone needs the same kind of assistance.

Make everyday information easier to use

Clear wording, readable text and more than one way to contact an organization can make information easier to use. On this site, awareness pages have headings, keyboard-accessible links, visible focus indicators and layouts that adapt to smaller screens.

Tell us if a page or task is difficult to use, or if a different format would help. Our accessibility statement explains how to contact us.
